Aluminum Can Behrens 6110 10-Gallon Locking Lid Can

This is a nice, well made metal can. Contrary to what another review implied, the lid locks nice and tight. Actually, the lid locks well onto the can without any need to put the handle in the upright position. Definitely locks well enough to withstand the strongest outside winds without being blown off. In fact, I was sortof mad at first because the lid was so difficult to remove and hurt my hands to do so. Then I found just the right way to pull on the lid with both hands and it comes off without trouble.

Can Crusher Basic Industries International 77703 Multi Crush Aluminum Can Crusher

This product is adequate for your typical home use. It's problems consist of outdated design & worksmanship. For example, in the past, all the cans were basically the same size making the multi-can stack very nice; but now some cans are smaller, some are larger, throwing off the whole idea of the "Cage" or "shute" loading system. Also, too much pressure on the handle will bow it and pop the handle out.

A Household Sugar Cane Juicer Only a Sweet Dream?

A Household Sugar Cane Juicer Only a Sweet Dream?

ItemTitle

So you've had your veggies-in-a-glass. How about putting a sugar cane juicer to work for dessert?

The contemporary sugar cane juicer has come a long way from the trapiche, the old traditional wooden roller press used by the indigenous citizen of countries such as Panama and Columbia. However, it still produces the same sweet, delightful juice.

A traditional Cuban drink, called guarapo, is freely ready in Miami, Florida. Many visitors are not aware that this is in fact sugar cane juice. To furnish this treat, a guarapo press is used.

Sugar cane juice is an unrefined source of carbohydrates, which is absolutely good for you! The juice of sugar cane grown for this purpose, has an consuming color, is soft on the palate, is more carport than vegetable juice and is filled with nutrients. While growing, it is watered constantly to keep the sugar ration as low as possible.

A sugar cane juicer produces juice that is just a bit sweeter than orange juice. It contains much less sugar than a can of soda! It is believed this juice has properties that help to forestall tooth decay.

There is also evidence that this juice may comprise some wound medical and immune strengthening properties. In addition, the juice has a soothing supervene on the digestive system, especially when combined with fresh ginger.

Commercial juicers are prohibitively expensive, and a household juicer isn't a tasteless sight. Pressers are ready in table top models in countries like Malaysia, India and Singapore, where this juice is seen as a delicacy.

Entrepreneurs elsewhere have taken up the challenge and now sell organic juice, flavored with lime, ginger or rasberry. These extras compliment the juice perfectly.

A vegetable juicer that has occasionally been used for this juice is the reliable Omega 8005. If you decree to try this, you must take off the outer rind or husk - quite a time-consuming job! The outer husk is also the main source of impurities. Removing the juicing nozzle first is also recommended.

The Visor Juicer by L'Equip, may also be able to handle it. Although juicing sugar cane sporadically should be fine, you have to decree for yourself if you want to risk potential damage to your juicer.

One of the other options currently on the market, is a sugar cane juicer called the Mci-170 that comes with the usual commercial-juicer price-tag. This is an extractor with a stainless steel cabinet, body and juice drum. The unit also has a drink tap. The juicer can go through colse to 170 canes per hour. The motor of the electric model is 1.5 Hp. A gas version is also available.

The dimensions of the Mci-170 are 16" x 18" x 22". This is quite a hefty motor by juicing standards, as it weighs in at colse to 190 pounds.

A slightly more manageable version is the Mci-60, which dispatches with 60 canes per hour. It comes with the same stainless steel construction, appropriate drive holder and filter with drink tap. The motor is less qualified at 3/4 Hp.

This one is a slightly more svelte model with dimensions of 16" x 15" x 22". Unfortunately it is still a heavy contraption with a weight of 100 pounds.

The Abamaster Sugar Cane Juicer Scje, absolutely more of a sugar cane crusher, has a qualified 1/2 Hp motor. This durable motor is easy to use, has a stainless steel body and drums, and a reduced gear institute for maximum torque.

The Sugar Cane Juice Extractor 2000 distributed by Zama Enterprises, is a countertop model with a stainless steel body and drums. It is easy to operate and has a detachable front cover for quick cleaning. Weighing in at 100 pounds, you probably won't pick this one for your kitchen!

Until a more practical household juicer becomes available, it is perhaps wiser to stick to juicing commonplace fruit and vegetables.

Most hunting knives will fail. They will either rust, lose their sharpness when you need it most, or crack under pressure.

Cold Steel has been development high capability knives for the past 20 years and they are well aware of this harsh reality.

This is exactly why they have created what is possibly the Best hunting knife on the market. The Outdoorsman.

Here are my thoughts on the very hyped knife:

What I like about the Outdoorsman:

1. The 6" blade is crafted with three layers of laminated steel called Vg-1 San Mai Iii.

This steel has an inner core (cutting edge) of Vg-1 Stainless steel. There is a layer of much softer 400 series stainless on each side, which gives the blade flexibility.

San Mai steel is about as good as it gets without spending over ,000.

2. It's time proven drop point make is excellent for skinning wild game.

3. You will consideration a ridge on the spine of the blade that looks like a "Blood groove".

This is positively a bone crusher that you can use as a hammering device or chopping edge.

4. Directly behind the bone crusher is jimping (thumb grooves). This feature is excellent for applying direct pressure when you need to make correct cuts.

5. The Cold Steel Outdoorsman has a finger guard and pommel that are made with stainless steel. This will give you extra piece of mind.

6. Full tang building means that there is no need to worry about the blade separating from the handle.

What I didn't like:

1. Partial serrations would be helpful on this knife, but otherwise I have no major complaints.

Overall:

With a suggested retail value of 5, The Outdoorsman knife by Cold Steel is worth every penny.

It is built like a tank and will stand up to even the toughest situations.

It is important for a company to arrange of waste properly to make sure that the trash does not harm other people. This is the presuppose why some services and forms of tool are listed to make the effort even easier.

Industrial compactors

The more definite types of Commercial compactors consist of waste and garbage compactors as well as can crushers. These are used to process wastes from textiles, fibers, rubbers and other materials. The Commercial compactor does not literally arrange of the waste. It rather converts waste into a more beneficial material that may serve someone else purpose. It is likewise important in improving handling, warehouse and transportation of a compacted material. The balers normally have shears or can be wrapped or tied automatically. They can be vertical and horizontal where the old compresses dry waste like plastics and cardboards while the latter is more important in waste disposal for high-volume applications. Most industries that make use of Commercial balers for waste disposal are paper, envelope, aluminum can, plastic bottle, box and printer manufacturers.

The Ice Man - 1940

The Ice Man - 1940

The Ice Man Cometh

The Ice Man - 1940

Of policy no one had electric refrigerators in the 1940's, at least not in our neighborhood. So we were solely dependent on the "Ralph Kramden" ice box. This machine was unique and useful. A two compartment unit made out of wood. And, it was lined with steel painted white. The top compartment was usually smaller and that held the food that needed refrigeration. The lowest section was larger and held the block of ice.

Ice Crusher

The Ice Man - 1940

The top didn't have any shelves as I remember so food was kind of stuffed in as best you could. The lowest could if needed be used to keep things cold as well as keep the ice. No Freezer Section. If you wanted ice for drinks you just grabbed the ice pick and chipped off some ice for your drink. Or, take a large chunk wrap it in a towel and beat it with a hammer on the kitchen table. The early ice crusher was born. Let me tell you how impressed I was just with ice cubes in water. When my parents finally upgraded to a dissimilar home my Mom one day set out a pitcher of water with ice cubes in it. No holiday, no special occasion. I idea we were rich.

The Ice Man - 1940

The Ice Man - 1940

The whole execution depended on keeping a quarterly supply of ice in the ice box. The ice business in case, granted a sign that could be hung in the front window of your house. It had four side with four dissimilar sizes of ice on each side. Our job as kids after we were told was to hang the ice sign in the window and to make sure the size needed was at the bottom. And you great not forget.

The ice man would come along in his delivery truck on some designated schedule. He would read the sign in the window. Cut a block of ice that matched the signs requirement. He had a leather sling and shoulder pad that he used to carry the cube up on his shoulder with. Our guy was lucky. We lived in a house and the ice box was in the kitchen on the first floor. Sometimes the Ice Man had to carry the block of ice up flights of stairs to population who lived in apartments. His tools were ice tongs and ice pick. And of policy a strong back. Just think about this mans job. All day long up into the truck, cut a chunk of ice. Dismount load the block on your back and carry it to the Ice Box. And, ice tongs and ice picks, us kids were impressed.

You got automated delivery if the sign was in the window. The ice man just opened the front door with the cube of ice on his shoulder and hollered out "Ice Man". In he came found the ice box and put the new block of ice into it. Didn't matter what was going on in the family. He just let himself in the house. And, if I remember right he got paid cash on the spot.

Along his route as he was delivering he would sound the call "Ice Man", for those who needed ice but forgot to put up the sign. Or, the kids who forgot to do what their parents told them. If no one was colse to to corral him then you got no ice. And, trouble was afoot. For you.

Now there were times when thing just didn't work out. We would run out of ice and the Ice Man wasn't due to deliver for some time. Here's where the advantages of having a child came in. Mom would say, "Get the wagon and go get some ice.". I don't know where the wagon ever came from but one became available. It was our job to go over to the Ice House and bring home a block of ice. For me that was a 10 block round trip. And, sometimes Mom would let you pick up a block of ice for a neighbor too.

Wagon in tow off you would go to get the ice. 8th and Dupont street on the projection across from Dela Donnes Store was the Ice House. It was a 8' X 10' wooden shed. Lined with steel and full of ice. It was a sub center for diamond Ice And Coal. You just asked the attendant for two 15cent blocks of ice and he hacked them off for you and with his tongs loaded them on your wagon.

Now this Ice Man was too scary for us kids. He was an aged black man. Looking back probably not paid very much in a labor laberious job. He was bent over and had a contorted body and face. I don't remember whether he was kindly or not. I just wanted to get my ice and get out of there. When no one was buying ice he had a stool in front of the ice house he would sit on. To me he just looked menacing with those tongs and ice pick.

The trip home with ice in the summer time was a fun trip. usually there was some change. And, I would take the turn and put it on top of the ice and let it melt down into the block of ice. By the time I got home it could be some inches down into the ice. A perfect vertical column. How we got the ice cube into the house I don't remember. We probably had a set of ice tongs at home to carry the block of ice in with.

I never relished these jobs our parents put on us. But liking wasn't an selection for our generation. We were the cheap labor and yet most of us grew up without going to jail. And we got an instruction that allowed us to support and raise our families. Chores were just like growing up - they just happened. The chores were there and we were startling to help.

NewAir Ai-300S Water Dispenser and Icemaker Gives You Two Appliances in One

Multi-tasking is now a way of life for many Americans, and having appliances and furniture that can serve more than one function is becoming increasingly favorite and in demand. Furthermore, many younger Americans in urban cities are turning to condo living because they can own for approximately the same cost of renting. Consequently, these living quarters are smaller and furnish less storage space than particular house homes. Thus, this prompts the need for home products to be more multi-functional and compact. Thankfully, many home appliance manufacturers have taken this into consideration and have come out with an array of products that can achieve more than one function at a time. From conveyable air conditioner and space heater combos to showerhead and filter packages, consumers now have any choices when it comes to multi-functional appliances. However, one of our favorite blend appliances has to be water dispensers with built-in icemakers.

treatment of Blood Under a Fingernail

treatment of Blood Under a Fingernail

Everyone at some point in their life pinches or smashes their fingertip under or in the middle of something. It's just a part of life (ouch)!! If it were not for the fingernail, the injuries would probably heal within a few days like a coarse bruise and have no lasting ensue or pain. However, because the fingertips are extremely vascular, minor trauma, such as a crushing injury or a blow to the fingertip will cause them to literally bleed underneath the fingernail. Your skin, and the anatomy of the fingernail, naturally seals that area below the nail and does not allow the blood to drain. The blood therefore pools in the nail bed, causing an growth in pressure and intense throbbing pain. This is how the fingernail becomes darkened, and you can often literally feel throbbing pain to your injury, with each heartbeat.

treatment of Blood Under a Fingernail

Treatment and Expectations: Immediate treatment includes ice and elevation of the limb to minimize the swelling of the injury. Sounds easy you say? Well read on! The next part is not for the faint at heart.

If the pool of blood under the nail is painful and you can feel a throbbing sensation (your pulse), then relief can only be achieved by literally releasing the pressure. This can be done by creating a hole in the top of the fingernail itself, and allowing the blood to drain. Now this may sound like the last thing you want to do to an already painful finger, but if you get in the car and drive to an Urgent Care center, this is exactly what they would do. The following section describes two basic ways to painlessly accomplish this, one by drilling a hole, and one by burning a hole. Neither way is any more painful than the other, and both are very easy to do.

One way to do it: The hole can be made with a jeweler's drill (a literally small drill bit that you can twist by hand), or an 18 gauge syringe type needle. Clean the top of the nail off with alcohol and begin drilling the hole directly over the largest and darkest part of the blood pool. Use a quick twisting motion of the needle or drill with very exiguous pressure. You won't feel any additional pain because the nail has no nerves in it. When you get straight through the nail, blood will spurt out of the hole, often with surprising force, and relief will be instantaneous. You can also try to gradually squeeze out any remaining blood from the hole.

The fastest and best way to do it: The other method involves melting a hole right straight through the nail. Although it sounds horrifying, in my experience, it is easier, faster, less traumatic and more sterile since it cauterizes and kills bacteria with the heat. To begin, first straighten a small paperclip. Then holding it with a pair of glove or pliers, heat the paperclip in a flame until it gets red hot, and then poke a hole in the nail. You literally should not have to push the paperclip, as it will melt straight through by itself. Apply just a exiguous pressure, right over the darkest spot, and continue until you feel a exiguous pop, or blood is released. You want to do this procedure speedily adequate so that you won't have to reheat the paperclip again to terminate the job. When you get straight through the nail, blood will spurt out of the hole, often with surprising force, and relief will be instantaneous. You can also try to gradually squeeze out any remaining blood from the hole.

Whichever method you choose, you don't want to go deeper than about 1/16 in. (2mm) below the nail. (Don't stress about this, just estimation it with your good judgment and get it over with!) After your done, soak in some Hydrogen Peroxide solution, repeat the soaks three times a day. This is to preclude a clot from forming and causing pressure to build up again. You might have to squeeze once or twice again, but usually, the first time does it.

When to seek expert curative attention:

-Signs and symptoms of infection. -You lose any movement or range of motion in the body part as a ensue of the trauma. -The injury appears to be worse than a straightforward bloody fingernail. -When in doubt.

How to Revive Wilting Cut Roses

How to Revive Wilting Cut Roses

One the arts of reviving wilted roses is to forestall this from happening and this comes with prolonging their life for as long as inherent after cutting.

How to Revive Wilting Cut Roses

Care of cut roses
Roses should always be cut with a very sharp pair of clean shears. If they aren't sharp they will damage the rose's stem by crushing it. Roses should be cut before 3pm in the afternoon as they need to use the early part of the day to store nutrients. Once a bud is fully opened it is too late to cut. Ideally a rose bud should not be more than open or a half open. To aid in the food of the rose whilst standing in water at least three leaves should be left on the stem. Cut off all leaves on the stem below the water line as these will rot and poison the water. Once the water starts getting cloudy it should be substituted with clean hot water.

Cause of wilting cut roses
When it comes to cutting the stems it is leading to take off any air that can enter it as this will reduce the life of the bloom. One way to forestall this from happening is to cut the stem under the water. Someone else recipe is to stand them in hot water before cutting.

Getting your roses into hot water
Plunging roses into very hot water before arranging can prolong their life. Hot water has also shown itself invaluable for reviving wilted roses. The causes of wilted roses are many; one is because of bacteria in the water. Hot water has the capability to kill bacteria and give roses a new lease on life.

How to cut roses
One of the reasons roses wilt is because they have lost the moisture within their cell structure. This often happens when roses have been cut too early before being placed in a vase or if they have been left standing out of water for too long. To revive them again it is principal to re-hydrate these cells so that they can once again deliver water to the foliage.

Wilting cut roses
If you find your roses wilting, take them out of the vase and cut of about 1/8th off of their stems. Place them into hot water and let them stand for about an hour before rearranging them back in a clean vase filled with fresh water.

At times it appears that only one or two blooms wilt when the others are fine. If this is the case it may be due to an air pocket being lodged in the stem. A rose uses its stem to draw water and if this process is impeded by an air lock as a succeed of cutting, water cannot move up the stem and the bloom will droop.

To take off this airlock is simple. Naturally take the dropping or wilted roses out of the vase re-cut their stems and place them into boiling water for about an hour before putting them back into the vase. This uncomplicated yet productive cure will ensure that your roses are once again restored back to their full beauty, head held high.

There is more than one way to revive wilted roses
It is a sad fact that roses will wilt after a few days of being cut. Drooping roses often succeed in being thrown away before their time. Being able to revive wilted roses will give you the opening to enjoy their heady fragrance and beautiful flowers for many more days.

Hot water as a cure has been explained yet there are alternative methods for reviving wilted roses.

Remove wilted roses from their vase and submerge them wholly in a tub of tepid water. While submerged detach each rose and make a fresh cut on the stem. It is leading to do this under water so as to stop air from getting into the stem and causing air locks. take off each rose and roll each one separately in newspaper. Keep the newspaper complete tightly so that it cannot open. Place each wrapped rose back into tepid water and allow soaking for some hours. Remove, unwrap and rearrange your roses as you please.

It is also inherent to revive wilted roses with ice cold water. Place only the stems of wilted roses into a tub filled with cold water and ice cubes. Allow your roses to stand in their cold water bath for a few hours and they will once again be ready to improve your room.

Ice is one of those things that hands down a bar plainly cannot do without. There is no sense trying to argue with this statement in your mind; a bar needs ice, plain and simple and if you cannot provide it, you may as well plainly take up an additional one line of work...like knitting perhaps!

Seriously though, if the various liquors, spirits, brews and various alcoholic beverages are the gasoline of the bar, then ice has to be the oil. Ok that analogy is not exactly air tight but the fact remains that ice: a bar has got to have it...we are clear on that, right? Good!

Moving on, there are probably as many ways to use ice in a drink, as there are the number of drinks that rely on ice as a major component. Think about it; you can serve up ice in a glass of bourbon on the rocks, you can crack ice for gin and tonic, you can shave ice for any number of tropical drinks and finally you can crush ice--which brings us to the Chrome Ice Crusher, a tremendously useful expedient that will no doubt come in handy no matter what type of bar you are running.

Food for healthy Nails

Food for healthy Nails

Nails are a protective horn at the end of our most sensitive extremities: fingers and
toes. They can often become injured from accidents or crushing weight such as
heavy walking or running. They can also become infected from bacterial or fungal
infections as well as separated from the nail bed or chipped from harsh weather.

The nails are often a reflection of our allinclusive health or nutritional deficiencies. Some
ways to listen to what your nails are trying to tell you are:

o Iron/Protein/Calcium deficiency = brittle, concave, ridged, white half moons

o Too much salt = external fibrous growths

o Nervousness / hyper thyroid = disjunction of the nail bed

o Respiratory Difficulties = bluish discoloration

o Bronchial Difficulties = yellowish discoloration

o Anemia = pale nail beds

o Vitamin A deficiency = peeling nails

o Zinc deficiency = poor nail growth

o Vegetable ability Oils deficiency = thin, fragile nails

o Consumption Extremes in Diet (especially meats and refined foods) = washboard
ridges

What we eat categorically does influence the appearance of these external parts of our
bodies. Start paying attentiveness to your hands (and feet!) and feeding your body right.

The food we put In the body affects the health of our nails, but that doesn't mean to
completely ignore the food we put On the body either. Contrary to many fabulously
smart marketing campaigns you don't need to spend a lot of money on chemically
enhanced products to perceive compel and charm on your outside.

Natural oils are an excellent way to treat the external health of the finger and
toenails. Different oils influence the body differently. A great way to conclude what oil
would suit your body best is to observe your patrimony and connect to the
predominant oil in that part of the world.

Once you have carefully which is best for your particular body's need use some
time in the evening to take a "nail bath" (remember ... The skin is our most
absorbent organ ...)

1. Allow your nails to soak in a small bowl of oil or slowly rub the oil into the nails

2. Cover with cotton gloves, cotton socks

3. Sleep

Top Three Oils to Treat Your Nails Right

1. Coconut Oil: one of the few critical plant sources of lauric acid. This medium
chain fatty acid, which is also found in human milk, enhances brain function and the
immune system.

2. Palm Kernel: when unrefined, this high saturation oil is the one of the most garage
of oils providing compel and ultimate saturation to the skin.

3. Olive Oil: the most garage vegetable oil, high in vitamin E, provides preserve to the
liver and gallbladder (yes, no matter how you take it into the body).

Now, take a wee and think about how those chemically enhanced skin and nail
products are affecting your body ...

To your vigor and success, Heather

How to Make Diet Shakes - Great Tasting Low Calorie Shakes

How to Make Diet Shakes - Great Tasting Low Calorie Shakes

Diet shakes and smoothies are a great way to lose weight. inspect how in this article.

Why Are Diet Shakes Great?

Diet shakes are great because they fill you up and they do not have too many fat in them. You can still gain weight with diet shakes if you drink too many of them.

But if you understand that you shouldn't exceed a maximum whole of fat per day then diet shakes are great as a unblemished meal, full of nourishment and fill you up.

Buy A Good Blender

It goes without saying that you should spend in a good blender. You won't need the costly selection of an ice crusher because you can just use frozen fruit instead. Get in the habit of cleaning or at least rinsing it after you've used it otherwise it will get clogged and you will delay cleaning it and development any more shakes.

Use frozen Fruit

Shakes taste best when cold so it is best to use a lot of frozen fruit in your shakes. Whether freeze your own fruit beforehand or you can even buy big bags of already-frozen fruit for cheap from your supermarket.

To thicken your shakes, just use regular bananas.

Be careful Of Dairy

Some shakes will add milk but I'd be very wary of this. Milk has a lot of fat that you don't need. You could use skimmed milk but it is so thin that you might as well use water instead.

The best thing is to use a blend of juicy and non-juicy fruits like berries and bananas for example.

Add Seeds

The best shakes are those that you can almost chew. And seeds are a great source of nutrition. My personal suggestion is to try and find some flaxseeds because these are highly nutritious. When they are blended, they will burst and publish their nutrition.

Protein Shakes

You can also use protein powder and add water and juicy fruit if you wish but personally I prefer to just use fruit completely.

How I Gained 32 Lbs of Lean Muscle in 32 Weeks After Failing for 7 Years

Things like speed, power, endurance and quickness are important attributes to have when you're an athlete, pretty much no matter what sport you are competitive in. But in the world of high school, college, and the work force, having a body that you're proud of is king...

I started lifting weights when I was 16 with two traditional goals in mind: one - to become a good athlete, and two - to build muscle and gain some lean weight.

Ice Crusher

I knew I needed to add some muscle to my skinny frame for sports, but when it came to my group life I undoubtedly needed to add some size, and fast. Being a skinny guy surrounded by friends who all had 20 + pounds of muscle on me didn't make me the most positive guy in the group. I was the last to take off my shirt at the beach that's for sure. I mean, deep down I was a positive kid because of how I was raised, but when it came to girls I all the time idea they were looking past me to the guy with broad shoulders and a six pack standing behind me.

How I Gained 32 Lbs of Lean Muscle in 32 Weeks After Failing for 7 Years

I wanted muscle, but I also wanted to become an athlete and there weren't any programs nearby that gave me both.

So, when I was 16 I started working out. All things I did I found in the bodybuilding magazines. I was doing the same workouts as the bodybuilders, the guys who already had all the muscle they needed, and a lot of them took steroids. I didn't have any muscle, and I wasn't about to take drugs either, so needless to say the workouts didn't work.

Why exactly didn't they work?

• There were just too many reps isolating muscles that I hadn't even began to create yet. I was burning too many fat having basketball institution 6 times a week, and workouts that lasted an hour and a half were just too much.

• I needed to be spending more time on developing the big muscle groups and building my strength. Lifting for high reps and isolating the smaller muscle groups was more or less a waste of time.

• Time was also a factor. I was spending far too much of it in the gym. If you're taking drugs, yah you can workout 5 or 6 times a week because they'll help your body recover. But if you're not, and especially if you're just a beginner, you need ample amounts of time to recover. Lifting 5 times a week was too much, I needed more time to recover, and because I wasn't getting it, I had a hard time adding the lean muscle.

• Due to the distance of the workouts, coupled with my basketball season, there was no way I could eat enough to add weight. I needed shorter, more intense training sessions.

What Bodybuilding didn't give me

Bodybuilding is great if all you want to do is build muscle, but if you want more than just muscle, if you want athleticism, power, speed And muscle, you're going to have to focus on more than just bodybuilding.

The "Unsuccessful Years"

Being an athlete in college was great, but being skinny sucked! It's not that I couldn't get a date, but I just felt like the "second choice" to most girls. I had some pretty jacked guys on my team who looked like men while I looked like a 15 year old boy, even when I was 20 and 21 years old. I was still killing myself in the weight room, my drive was up, my power was up, but my weight wasn't going anywhere.
I began to focus more on doing during college when I was in the weight room. As a result I began lifting more, and jumping higher. I was more remarkable and faster, but I was the same weight. I fell in love with this kind of training but like bodybuilding, it didn't give me the All things that I was looking for.

Power Lifting is great but...

I began focusing on Olympic lifts, plyometrics and powerlifting which began to yield results in drive and power, I even gained a petite bit of weight but I was 'good looking weight.' I was still playing basketball, not getting enough rest or inspiring enough fat to literally add size, but just focusing powerlifting didn't give me the convert in my physique that I had been looking for, for so long.

A nagging knee injury that occurred throughout my first season finally spelled the end to basketball. After a knee injury forced me to take a break from basketball, I spent a year doing pretty much nothing. Bodybuilding once again became my focus but the huge number of reps, body part splits and lack of power-focused lifting resulted in the same 'ol few pounds of fat gained, very petite muscle gained. Overall, I felt like crap. I swiftly realized that I needed a challenge, I needed something to push me and I needed a formula that would give me the gains, but I didn't know of whatever that in case, granted this, so instead I decided to take up boxing.

Fighting to Build My Ideal Body

I had all the time loved the sport and I figured it would be a lot easier on my knee than basketball was. There wasn't the jumping on a hard face like there was in basketball, not the same kind of stopping and beginning either, so I figured I'd give it a go.

I had kind of given up on gaining muscle at this point, spending years working my butt off but yielding zero results does that to you, and adding size was literally a negative when it came to the fight game because of the weight classes.

Instead of size, I now had to figure out how to pack as much muscle as I possibly could into my fighting weight, this also meant losing fat and getting my body fat % lower than ever at the same time! I hadn't even gained any lean muscle yet, how the hell am I going to build muscle and lose fat at the same time?!

My first few months of boxing went great, I fell in love with the sport and I loved fighting. I now had the challenge that I had been looking for, the end goal, something to portion my progress; however, the training we were doing out of the ring wasn't making me look or feel like I idea it would.

It was pretty much all endurance based training which didn't give me the power or the quickness I needed to be the best fighter I could be. Reps, reps, and more reps of bodyweight or at the most light weights is what we were doing, there weren't any explosive movements being added into our training at all. The more I trained like this, the weaker I felt and the weaker I looked.

When it came to a fight I felt weak and tired and I knew there had to be other way to both look good and become a stronger, faster, more explosive athlete. At this point I was fast and had power in spurts but I couldn't put it all together. I felt drained, worn down and exhausted and I knew I needed a change. But to be honest there wasn't a whole lot out there to help me.

Looks never completely left my mind either. I still wanted to build muscle and add lean mass to my skinny frame.

The missing piece of the puzzle

The problem...

I needed help. I think we can all agree with that statement. I had read All things I could find online, read the magazines, but I wasn't getting what I wanted.

I was positive in who I was, I was positive in the fact that I could cope myself, but I wasn't positive with how I looked. I looked like a boy when my friends looked like men.

Feeling like girls were looking through me felt like crap and may have been something I cooked up in my own mind, but when I added the muscle, I undoubtedly got more looks. I'm not even that big of a guy. I'm not huge by any means, but I'm muscular and athletic, and have a build that got me noticed by girls, and at last got me noticed by the right girl.

The fix...

Knowing that I needed help was one thing, but literally getting the right help was a totally separate ball game altogether. Nothing online seemed to help, nothing on Tv and I couldn't find the right literature to fix my problems, so I looked for a job.

There was a gym about 30 minutes from my house that focused primarily on training high level athletes. They had professional and semipro teams on their roster of clients, as well as 'weekend warriors' who wanted to get in good shape and become good athletes. I applied for the job as a instructor and got it. My first few days there I got to shadow the head instructor at the gym and the guy literally knew his stuff. I watched him train a few pro football players who had similar 'obstacles' to mine: one of the things they needed to perform was to articulate and even growth their explosiveness and power, but also articulate their mass during the season. The things they were doing were pretty cool. Lean muscle and explosive power was the traditional focus, I know that I had to add endurance into the mix as well.

I ended up talking with him for a bit at the end of the day and telling him about my multifaceted problem. Over the next month he gave me a lot of great training tips, separate theories, what not to do and what to do for each aspect of my training that I needed to improve.

Let the Testing Begin...

The Steps I Took that Lead me to Success

• I began lifting 3-4 times a week, depending on my split, which was so much good than the 5 or 6-day splits I had been previously been trying to pull off. I was allowing my body the time and rest it needed to properly recover in order to see the benefits of the training I had been putting my body under.

• I also began eating better, with more veggies, more lean proteins and more nutrients before and after my workouts. Before this, I wasn't giving my body the fuel it needed to build muscle. If your body has no fuel source - in the form of carbohydrates, fats or proteins - it will burn whatever's there, sometimes this means burning muscle muscle. Eating healthier also keeps you healthy, gives you more energy and helps you recover.

• For the time being I also kept up my 'in the ring training,' but no longer took part with the team when they did the 'out of the ring' work. I was looking results by the second week, noticeable results. I was faster, strong, had more endurance and undoubtedly had power. I also felt more muscular as well which is important in my mind.

My instructor wanted to know what I was doing differently that led to my success, I showed him and he was undoubtedly curious.

My next fight I won by decision, then the following one by Ko. Pretty soon after that my instructor put me in payment of the "out of the ring training" for our whole boxing team - for all the guys who were literally fighting that is - and everybody began looking similar improvements. I was training guys, myself included, for intense bursts within the 3 minutes of a round rather than just plain and steady work throughout.
I was feeling great with my boxing, but I now wanted to see how far I could take myself with these gains in the gym.

I had been able to add muscle into my fighting weight, but could I translate this into adding pure lean muscle and literally start looking the numbers go up on my scale? I was still in the gym sparring and working with the other fighters, but my fighting took a backseat to the thing I had been trying to do since I was 16 - create my physique to be something that I was proud of.
And so I went to work... On myself.

How did I do?

Over the next 8 months I gained 32 lbs of lean muscle!

I changed my diet and added more fat but also ate 'clean' and had the right stuff at the right times. Along the way I made adjustments to my programs incorporating separate techniques, reps, sets, and times for each.

My results shocked me and undoubtedly shocked all of my friends, especially the ones who I didn't see during those 8 months. I was now over 180 lbs of lean muscle, I could cope myself, I continued to improve my athleticism because of the training I was doing, but I looked like a man, I no longer looked like a skinny petite kid.

The muscle I gained was lean, I wasn't walking nearby with any 'muffin tops' or rolls nearby the mid-section and I could still compete in the ring, on the basketball court or on the ice good than I had when I was competitive in each.

I had found my "perfect workout", a habit that made me look better, feel better, and perform better!
